The (slightly) longer version

Marieke Eyskoot (1977) is sustainable fashion and lifestyle expert and lover, speaker and presenter, author and consultant. She puts contemporary sustainable fashion and lifestyle on the map. Marieke is the author of international bestseller This is a Good Guide – for a sustainable lifestyle. Filled with practical and positive tips on fashion, beauty, food, home, work and leisure – proving that stylish and sustainable go very well together. It’s about good, not perfect: about smart choices, doing what you can and what suits you. With this modern handbook, Marieke makes green living fun and doable. The right addresses, beautiful labels, great places, surprising facts and handy solutions – exactly what you need. She also wrote a youth edition of this book, and the first Dutch guide to fair fashion: Talking Dress – Alles over eerlijke kleding en lifestyle. Marieke is co-founder of forward fashion tradeshow MINT (the fair fashion trade show of the Benelux); her trademark is the combination of fashion made with respect for people and our environment and amazing style.

Next to this, Marieke is an all-round, dedicated and well-received event English-language host, presenter and moderator (for amongst others Netflix, Dutch Design Week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Dutch EU Chairmanship, International Film Festival Rotterdam and Fairtrade International), experienced keynote speaker (at for instance the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Eurostar, PwC, the Dutch Embassy in Brussels and TEDx), workshop leader and panelist. She is also a consultant for fashion and lifestyle brands and stores.

Marieke was repeatedly part of newspaper Trouw’s Sustainable People Top 100, selected for trade journal Textilia’s Fashion Powerlist Top 100 and nominated by newspaper Het Parool as Amsterdam Citizen of the Year (and by magazines Glamour, Viva, Red and Marie Claire for their lists of top women).
Marieke is sometimes referred to as the sustainable fashion expert of The Netherlands and Benelux. In any case, she has been involved in a better garment industry for almost twenty years. She has an extensive global ethical network, and is known for bringing several leading international sustainable brands to the Benelux. Marieke is also an avid taboo-breaker, and fights the way people are being shamed into buying more and more products. Her global movement #SustainabilityAgainstShame puts the link between being told you’re not okay unless you consume and being able to be sustainable on the map.

For many media, from TV-programmes and newspapers, magazines and blogs, she is the go-to person when it comes to commenting on developments in sustainable fashion and lifestyle.
Marieke has been fascinated by fashion from a young age, and lives with her husband and cat Billie Watson (named after Barack Obama and Emma Watson) in Amsterdam.
